Understanding power consumption - One light at a time

Power is consumed in watts, or on your power bill in kilo watts per hour, that's 1000 watts per hour. Typical commercial rate for electricity runs around 8 Cents per KW/H, not much.

Power consumed by one light;

Shop light - 8' fluorescent T12 - 255W

Shop Light - 8' - LED Light - 65W

Thats 190 watts saved per hour of usage, still not much, although...

Times by 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year, equals (592,800 W/h) or 592 KW/h per year , thats a little more...

How much is does this ONE light cost us?

592KW/H at the rate of 0.08 cents, drum roll ...

Much anticipated savings...... $47 per year , from ONE light , from saving energy , I'm impressed!

Might not seem like much, but this is only one light and quickly increases with 10, 30 or 100 lights.

The most impressive benefit from LED lighting is the lifespan , around 20 years , one light will have saved $940, paying for its self many times over.
